SARC (Scientists/Artists Research Collaborations)

1st-Mile Institute's SARC program is being developed to collaboratively address and work on some of society's most difficult issues, with the intent to further achievements in the arts and the sciences, along with grounded educational and community benefits.

1st-Mile Institute's SARC program was successfully piloted in 2012, as a featured program of ISEA2012, with participation of Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, University of New Mexico and its Center for Advanced Research Computing (CARC), Santa Fe Institute and 516ARTS in Albuquerque.   Start-up funding was generously provided by Lockheed Martin, the New Mexico Consortium, Los Alamos National Bank, CenturyLink and Qforma.

Following an international open call, five artist collaborators were chosen for the 2012 pilot:  Ruth West, Francesca Samsel, Todd Ingalls, Adrianne Wortzel and Will Ray Wilson.
